In Europe the Child Protection Code has been signed by the coordinating organisation for tour operators in Germany and Austria and by 98% of the tour operators in Scandinavia and Italy. Besides the tour operators, the hotel industry has also shown interest in the Child Protection Code. In 2002 ACCOR Hotels signed the Code and started an information campaign in ACCOR Hotels in South East Asia. In 2005 hotels in South America and East Europe followed.

Since 2000 there is a Steering Committee that monitors the progress of the Code of Conduct and promotes its implementation. The Code Secretariat is housed at ECPAT USA in New York. Click here to find out more about the Steering Committee.
